Nursing License CE Requirements
CE Requirements for Nursing Licenses
Every two years, the Minnesota Nursing Board requires nurses to complete the following continuing education contact hours to comply with licensing requirements:
- 24 contact hours for RN license renewal
- 12 contact hours for LPN license renewal
- 24 contact hours for APRN license renewal
At the time of initial licensure or reregistration, your licensure period is determined by the date of licensure as it relates to the month and year of your birth. The licensure period can vary from 6 to 29 months depending upon your date of birth and the start date of your registration period. After this initial period of licensure, your license will be in effect for two years.
License Expiration and Renewal
Registered Nurse Licenses:
Minnesota RN licenses renew every two years from the date of license.
Licensed Practical Nurse Licenses:
Minnesota LPN licenses renew every two years from the date of license.
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Licenses:
Minnesota APRN licenses renew every two years from the date of license.
